2007 5th Ranker

The final ranking tournament has come and gone now it is down to the serious side of business the final playoff and the singles.

The numbers at Twin Towns on Sunday were a bit down as expected with most players already qualified. The usual culprits were there for a bit of good practice on the newly clothed (purple) Twin Towns tables with brand new aramith balls and brand new spotted whites in play. It makes a huge difference and the tables played straight as a dye except for the rolls.

Mr Bean did his customary tantrum when he was outplayed by Nick and kept the crowd amused. He spat the dummy as is becoming usual and wouldn’t play the back half of the draw. His potential is just that potential because his head will always make him a loser when the chips are down and you have to turn things around. He just spits and says too hard.

Young Dean was very impressive and had Dax 2 zip and a hard hit at the black in the 3rd but that was his last chance against "DD". Then in the back half he had a gimee against Silver to win and somehow kept it out. However he is coming along in leaps and bounds and should be really happy the way he is hitting them.

The oldies brigade were there in force and Jeff Peters, Fisho, Willie, Big Al, Smally(he really is getting smaller) and soon to be a master Mr Peter North all playing well. Annie got the leading lady result. "Moo" Malone couldn’t crawl out of bed with a mystery virus and as a result her whole Flair Crew team stayed home for her. That is real team spirit.

The final came down predictably to Dax having to roll Watty twice to get the money and what a good final it was for those who stayed on. Dax flew the gates and mastered the first frame Watty broke and Dax potted out the the 2nd then Dax mastered the 3rd. Round 2: Watty mastered the first then Dax broke and Watty potted out in the 2nd then Watty mastered the 3rd to get the money. A great quality final.

Don’t forget to keep an eye on our North Coast Spring comp update forum for details as they come available. We should be in a better position to confirm things later in the week when we have a meeting with the Coolangatta Hotel management and get a better idea of their alterations schedule.
